Apparently today is Ducati Day, as news continues to come from Italy about the Ducati Panigale V4 and its Desmosedici Stradale engine.

Ducati has already spilled the beans on the new 210hp V4 engine it has been developing for its next superbike, but now we also get more spy photos of the Panigale V4 that will carry it.

These latest spy photos show quite clearly the 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 that will debut later this November, at the EICMA show in Milan.

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali confirmed the Panigale V4 name today, and for our A&R Pro members, we have gone into a lengthy analysis as to why Ducati is choosing to keep the styling and name of this machine so similar to the previous model.

From the latest photos, we can see clearly how the bodywork of the Panigale V4 comes together, with the air ducts below the headlight, that then sweep into the airbox above the engine.

We can also see that Ducati is doing away with the side-mounted rear shock, in favor of a more traditional vertical mounting within the single-sided swingarm.

Shown in these photos is the Panigale V4 S model, which continues to feature semi-active Öhlins suspension, fore and aft, as well as forged aluminum wheels from Marchesini.

What is the most interesting to our eye though is how the rear subframe mounts to the 1,103cc motor, as well as the front aluminum chassis piece.

Below it, we can see the double piping of the rear exhaust headers, which leads down to the underslung exhaust muffler, and gives a nod to the previous Panigale design, despite the new engine layout.

It is also interesting that there is an inner red fairing with the bodywork, which presumably helps cool the engine by routing air through the radiator and then away from the bike. The tail section also shows more pronounced air channeling.

It is also worth acknowledging that there is a joke in here somewhere about the kickstand not being up…
