Things don’t look great for Bimota, one of the most iconic motorcycle brands ever created. The happy merger of the talents of Valerio Bianchi (BI), Giuseppe Morri (MO), and Massimo Tamburini (TA), Bimota has a storied past of failure, and a history of rebirth.
Several weeks ago, we covered a report from Cycle World’s Bruno dePrato, which outlined the currently dire state of the company. It seemed that once again that Bimota was falling on hard times, and the future of the brand remained uncertain.
Bimota took issue with this news, naturally.
The following was release by Bimota, translated from its original Italian, Bimota refutes the story published by Cycle World, and its retelling by other publications, including ours:
Bimota continues to “create dreams” in a new operational headquarters, a handcraft building just a few hundred meters from the historic structure of Via Lea Giaccaglia in Rimini. The spaces are new, bright and organized. The layout on a single floor allows a flow of slim and smooth motion for a craft factory such as Bimota.
A further deployed structure houses the components of the out-of-production models. The first bike has already been born in the new stable.
Despite the unavoidable relocations due to an unmodified move, the pace of production is resuming at regular rates thanks to more and more select and competent staff.
Our willingness to provide service and assistance to our customers worldwide and our importers remains the main commitment at this time until the recent relocation will be fully completed.
The switchboard is currently operating from 9:00 to 17:00 with a temporary telephone number: +39 0541 391290; the email address remains info@bimota.it. Further updates will be published directly on www.bimota.it.
Ultimately it can be said that Bimota certainly is not extinct.
In the last few weeks, the company has also been closely watched by various brands in the brand; a further confirmation of the prestige that Bimota has always had.
While other reports from Italy confirm a major shift in the Bimota operations, which can cast doubt on the company’s actual physical state, there does seem to be at least some signs of life at the Italian brand’s new office, however intermittent it may actually be..
Of course, at this time it is worth pointing out that there is a difference between mostly dead and all dead – mostly dead is slightly alive. This seems to be the continuous state of Bimota. Hopefully the brand finds its Miracle Max.
