Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition Photos Leak Online

In a couple hours, we will get our first glimpse at what for the foreseeable future will be the final v-twin superbike from Ducati, but thanks to a Ducati dealership posting photos of the machine on Facebook (and our friends at MaxxMoto spotting them), we get an early look at the machine.

As expected, the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition borrows heavily from the Ducati 1299 Superleggera (we understand that the motors share more than a few pieces from the “go fast” parts bin), and the exhaust is of the World Superbike inspired undertail design.

Also noticeable from the photos is the obvious tricolore design, that sees the Panigale R Final Edition in the green, white, and white of the Italian flag – final nod to the Italian company’s history with v-twin superbikes.

Later this year, at the EICMA show in Milan, we expect to see the successor to the Ducati 1299 Panigale, which will be a V4-powered superbike. So far, spy photos of the new V4 machine show it to carry many of the lines found current on the Panigale – it even continues use of Ducati’s “frameless” chassis design.

Until that bike arrives though, the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition will be the latest superbike design from the Italian brand. Power is said to be 209hp at the crank, with a wet weight of just 419 lbs – not to shabby for Euro4 compliant road-legal motorcycle.

We would expect the latest-spec electronics to be featured on the machine, as seen on the 1299 Superleggera, and though the Superquadro engine will be die-cast, not sand-cast, a big difference from Ducati’s top-of-the-line street bike.

Cost is said to be half of the Superleggera’s $80,000 price tag as well, though we will get official word on that, and the rest of the features found on the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition tonight, at Ducati’s official unveiling at Laguna Seca. Stay tuned!
